When Yokosuka's Kaigan Dori was developed, a wide and "imaginative" sidewalk, or promenade, was build along its landward side.
It is a great place for walking and jogging.
The promenade was equipped with water-flow displays (fountains, streams, small waterfalls, ponds, etc.), but unfortunately, over the years, most of them have dried-up and been closed-down.
Large "art objects" were also placed in various areas along the promenade, which brings us to the next Yokosuka Power Spot, which I call "Primary Colors" ---- three remarkable large, angular, & abstract metal sculptures, red, yellow, and blue, are sequentially displayed along a 50-meter stretch of the walkway near the fish market.
These mysterious objects add a surreal touch to the area. And what is also interesting is that they have been "caged" ---- with plastic barriers place around some of their sharp edges, for safety reasons, I suppose ---- perhaps they menaced bikers and pedestrians? Art as monsters? Who knows...
* UPDATE: 06 December 2019 .... During a recent walk, I noticed the sculptures had been removed .... only the cement bases remains .... someone at City Hall must have decided the strange art objects needed to go somewhere else .... hopefully they are being repaired & repainted...
Disappeared .... Where did they go .... Back to a different planet...?
